CASUAL SPORTY MINI

Mini-skirts can be the ultimate seduction weapon, but sometimes fashionable women chose to casual them down in various ways. One of my favorites is the sporty twist, wherein a short mini is combined with an athletic jacket. The effect is sexy, yet understated. You can go all black or try color variations, particularly with oranges, yellows or blues.

FUR, LEATHER & YELLOW

Siberia is in. Sports Illustrated models are scouted in trains from Moscow to Vladisvostok. I sense an influence here. This brown leather jacket with fur collar and sleeves goes down smoother than ice-cold vodka with a long yellow skirt. Whether blonde or brunette, a woman should never underestimate the power of yellow. It's no wonder Chinese consider it a royal color. And whether the fur is real or synthetic, it's a matter of choice.

BLACK LEATHER & RED SKIRT

There is no secret here. Slip into a red skirt and keep everything else black (heels, nylons, purse and leather jacket) and watch pedestrians ram into buildings. It's an obvious stylish choice, yet, few wear it.

WHIMSICAL NYLONS

While I'm convinced we will look back at Ed Hardy's tattoo-inspired nylons and bodysuits as one of the fashion disasters of this decade, I'm not fully convinced that nylons with funky, whimsical patterns should be counted out. They made these legs look interesting, while they might have gone unnoticed in less striking threads. So the idea here would be to look for fun motifs and stay far, far away from anything that contains the letter E-D-H-A-R-D-Y. I respect Christian Audigier's marketing genius, but let's bring some sanity back.

SCHOOLGIRL INSPIRED

This number would be a hit in Japan. It's an original take on the whole private schoolgirl thing. The checkered mini has a line of lace and, even though the boots are as high as they can be without becoming a show costume, the pull-up wool socks still mange to show above the knee. The monochromatic choice of gray and black creates a perfect canvas to allow a hint of tanned skin stand out.

SCHOOLGIRL SKIRT DONE WELL

The private school skirt brings a sexy note to this leather jacket and oversized sweater pairing. I appreciated the blend of fall colors in this outfit. To wear whenever waiting alone on a rainy night, as seen above. It is oddly romantic.

GREEN NYLONS

Never thought green nylons would do it for me, but, after taking this picture, I stand corrected. There are three main colors and pieces at work here and they all seem to blend flawlessly, creating a lively combo impossible to achieve with traditional plain black. The nylons are almost army green, muted and not flashy at all. The flat boots and the sweater are black, but the dividing mini-skirt brings in a dark blue tone. Original, zen and quite pleasant.

RETRO-FUTURISTIC

I don't go gaga for tattoos and I don't think they make regular people sexier. When even the concierge at The Ritz has them, it's time to consider their relevance as a rebellious statement. However, some creative daring women have turned their bodies into fascinating canvases. That, I can appreciate and hope they don't live to regret it. Interestingly, these tattooed vixens identify themselves very closely with pinup models of days gone-by, whose skin was untouched by extreme ink art. Pinups, though, were the subjects of countless tattoos. Odd interpretation. Anyhow, we digress. Fantastic vintage outfit with a checkered tube top and a 50s-style skirt, connected by a wide belt. There's something quite charming about the retro vibe and the red flower in her hair next to all the 21st century technology.

GETTING AWAY WITH SEXY

At first, I said: "Oh, what a lovely office outfit." Then, I realized how much of the back was actually exposed. Scandal. Curiously, the overall idea remained quite classy. I must guess the top is a bodysuit, similar to those worn by dancers during rehearsal. The skirt is tastefully chosen by going for white, a formal fabric and a waist high enough to insert a braided gold belt. The hi-heels, unseen here, were straight out of "Sex in the City." This is a great example of ample flesh revealed while confusing the puritans. Particularly recommended for those blessed with a spectacular back.

ROCK STAR ON THE BUS

This woman does her research. The awesome detailed vintage leather jacket is probably not available anywhere, but the spirit of its discovery should inspire fashion hunters to search deep in used clothing stores for a piece with equivalent character. The extremely short flared laced skirt and oversized shades add sex appeal and a rock star vibe. Black on blond always punches. The sleek haircut gets serious bonus points. Guitar and amp not allowed on public transport, sadly.

STYLE RIDER

In a college library, the outfit would be sweet. On a scooter, it sizzles. Knee-high socks, low heels and a mini-skirt on wheels need no justification. Accidents just happen. The overall monochromatic effect of browns and khaki greens, down to the shades and retro jacket just goes with the seat color and the black Vespa. Something too right about this one. If she isn't engaged in guerrilla marketing, then Vespa should promptly issue her a check.

CLEAN LINES GET ATTENTION

In a wild pack of jaywalking women, the one with the cleanest lines stands out like a black man at a KKK pool party. Shrink wrapped in a tight v-neck tee and a high waisted pencil skirt with a faux-belt, the woman in black and gray needs no jewelry to flash. Variations of this outfit can be found at many stores, for price points ranging from practically free to rampant retail robbery. No excuse to go without one.

VEST & MINI

Legs do a lot for this outfit, but it is definitely not reserved for runway gams. The form-fitted long sleeve top and the big vest offer a contrast of sleekness and volume, allowing to go extremely short with a classic denim mini-skirt and sock boots. Keeping the whole in black, blue and gold is simple and tasty.

RED STATEMENT

In a cold urban jungle, a daring splash of red stands out like a song in a library. This short red leather jacket, red tights, striped mini-skirt, black hi-heel boots and black purse is an original winner that speaks of sexy confidence (notice the attention from the crowd). Bold red and black combinations (leather and other fabrics) are often featured in fashion magazines and never seem to go out of style. Yet, they are rarely spotted in the street.

CLASSIC LINES NEVER DIE

Always been fond of this classic choice. Form-fitted white turtleneck with shape-hugging gray pencil skirt, just above the knee. Polished off with matching bag and shoes. This timeless outfit (no one can tell what year this picture was taken) suits particularly well athletic types with wide shoulders and compliments kindly any form of rear end. The best part is that variations on this theme can be found to fit any budget.
