WHITE DRESS IN DARK WEATHER

It may be chilly outside, but, in case you didn't know, Canadian women are taught from an early age to swim between icebergs to avoid collisions. Hence, the ability of the woman above to pull off this dress in sub-zero temperature. If you got curves and are proudly fit (and single), try on a micro white dress. Surprisingly, few women go for white and the effect is astonishing. I've never seen so many men hitting on a girl outside a club. There was a line up. She rejected one suitor with a smile and another one immediately took the spot of his fallen comrade. I credit the dress.

THAT PERFECT JEAN JACKET

Never neglect the sweetness of the right (short) jean jacket. Keep the blue dark, rich and classic and use it as the perfect caper for a black scarf and a slinky gray jersey dress. Roll up them sleeves and watch Jimmy Dean smile in his grave.

JERSEY DRESS CHARM

I thought this had charm. A knitted-type jersey dress in gray, with an orange shoulder bag. While a Russian granny could wear this to the Sunday market, put it on a woman with curves and see how it turns into a hot little number. I may be wrong, but I would venture to say that I have seen a few similar ideas being worn without bras around town. Not by grannies, though.

GREEN SCOOP DRESS

Every stylish woman should own a green scoop neck dress like this one and a long coat an inch or two longer for maximum calf impact. It is the one piece of clothing to throw on when the darkness of fall starts to overwhelm the streets. Green is the other black: a color capable of making even a truck look desirable.

CHECKER RED DRESS

Always looking for ways to stay hot in the cold. This red checker dress has the right dosage of cute and sexy, while sailing smoothly with a leather jacket and brown boots. Observe the comfy leg warmers rolled up to the knee. Warm nylons are a better choice than leggings here. While leggings can certainly heat up most tops, they do take something away from a dress. Not as bad as wearing a dress over jeans, though. That idea was as useful as a convertible submarine.

CURVACEOUS SWEATER DRESS

These days, some women believe they can throw a bottle of relish over leggings and look half-decent. Looking hot, however, requires a little finesse and taste. This off-white sweater dress, with buttons at the front and a belt wrapped around the waist, was light and clingy, defining curves with each step. Wide sleeves added sensuality and flow to the walk. Black cowboy boots with white motifs came to support both the dark leggings and the bright sweater.

THAT FLATTERING JERSEY DRESS

You will run into a few jersey dresses in my pictures. Sorry. I like them, I see them everywhere (this is Fall 2009), they come in many cuts, fabrics and styles and they are more flattering than an Italian womanizer. As Calvin Klein will tell you, gray with black is just sharp. The big bag with the maximum security chain is pretty kinky, too.

SWINGING DRESS

Some women with dramatic and, let's say, more abundant curves know this secret already: if you got'em, flaunt'em. While cooler (as in the opposite of hotter) women may opt for concealment, curvaceous babes will pick clingy, fitted dresses with funky patterns and matching belt, boots and bag to trigger pedestrian collisions. The key is, as always, to avoid unsightly underwear lines, especially when wearing a thin fabric like the one pictured above. Let the curves flow smoothly, uninterrupted and with a sensual swing.

BACKSTAGE - CURVED MINI-DRESS

I may publish a pic from such a daring angle every once in a while. The fact is that some outfits are meant to look great and leave an impact from behind. What set aside this micro-dress from the competition was a very subtle arc at the hem, which made it shorter at the center and longer on the sides. Although it looked pretty tight, it was still a little flared at the bottom. And check out the boots: I always liked Robin Hood and pirates.

JERSEY DRESS - ACT I

How do you wear a sweater and still pretend you're in Miami? If you answered "with a jersey dress, fool! You put the answer right in the picture!" you are correct. This bright blue number, with all sorts of black accessories, including the raven hair, was a big success on a chilly wet day. Observe the belt comfortably nested low on the hips and not the waist, thus creating a mini-skirt line and increasing the heat factor.

JERSEY DRESS - ACT II

While everyone around her looks like they just woke up, she takes her legs to the street wearing a very short jersey dress and funky nylons. Playful nylons are indeed something to consider before going for plain black, but maneuver carefully. In this case, they actually help to create an eye-pleasing monochromatic tone-on-tone outfit, while preventing the overexposed limbs from catching a cold.

THAT NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY WHITE SHIRT

The great white shirt, the ultimate professional clothing piece, is also one of the sexiests. While the overall look here ends up been quite acceptable for work or campus, there are many elements that conspire to get co-workers or professors in plenty of trouble. Leggings' greatest contribution to fashion has been granting women the ability to wear ultra-short dresses or skirts without fear. As if that wasn't enough, she chose a red dress, fully open at the front, yielding the most powerful color mix in advertising: red, white and black. But the fine rectangular glasses and the neat ponytail still said: "Hey, I'm just going to the library." Very hot.

RETURN OF MARYLIN

Marylin Monroe is alive and kicking in 2009. She might have grown half-a-foot, but hasn't lost an ounce of style. Try a retro yellow dress with floral patterns (low cut, fitted at the waist and flared at the skirt), throw on some futuristic shades, blast your iPod and enjoy watching head turn as you slice through life.

DEVIANT LUMBERJACK

Lumberjacks must have a massive bone to pick with city folk who take a good Christian working shirt and turn it into an outfit for the devil. A devious designer somewhere had the flash to add a bit of extra fabric at the bottom and some women have embraced the experiment to the full extent of its sensual potential. The woman above selected a piece of rich purple and magenta tones, with a burgundy belt and vintage biker boots, undoing enough buttons to expose a black lace bra. She will certainly burn in hell, but, while on earth, she will have more fun than a walrus at a fish store. BONUS: This dress-shirt can also be unbuttoned from below. The sacrilege.

BURNING ORANGE 2

A striking and flowing burnt orange top (dress?) pulled over a pair of jean shorts with just below-the-knee brown cowboy boots made downtown traffic stop. The dark hair added drama. This outfit could probably work for most body types, capable of holding a similar regal posture and looking ahead as if the future was known and under control.

CLASSIC CASUAL ELEGANCE

This style of black dress has been flattering women since the 1940s and it should continue to do so for decades to come. Plunging neckline at the front, tank-top shoulder straps and length stopping shy of the knees. Accentuate the waist with a contrasting retro belt, saw off one stiletto heel shorter than the other and unleash your best Marylin strut impersonation.

MAKE HIPS HIP

You got hips? Shake them, 'cuz you got fans out there. Where a less daring woman would've been shy to showcase so blatantly her dramatic curves, the lady above chose the road less traveled and left mouths open in her wake. A striking short green tube top dress and a neck-less sweater, with a diva hairdo, is all it took to give pedestrians whiplash.

ELLABORATE CURVES

I admit I don't quite understand all the forces at play here, because she zoomed by like a Tokyo bullet train, but this outfit brought much joy to the street. I'm guessing that she managed to avoid a ticket for indecent exposure by the clever use of a black tube top. The entertainment value came out of the bizarre design of the dress. The hotness came out of the fabric, which wrapped her hips and derriere like cellophane. Matching light beige with brown knee-high boots was smack on the money. CAUTION: Do not wear unless you have mastered a confident stroll.

IT'S EASY BEING GREEN

We can recycle until there is nothing new on the planet, but we will never be truly green until we wear the color. Deep grass green in all its fashion manifestations goes gloriously well with old brown leather or black and has the knack of making people look simply attractive. This knitted dress boasts the type of character one can only find in vintage. Cinched at the waist with a braided golden belt, it defines and compliments with ease any figure.

IN FAVOR OF THE TURTLENECK DRESS

Turtleneck dresses have been around as long as turtles. It's important to remember how good they can look, especially in the fall, when looking sexy while remaining warm and cozy can be trickier than a Criss Angel show. I love the power of red and black. The combination always gives character and confidence to the wearer. Interestingly, the simple cute black tuque adds sophistication.
